The Hand that rocks the cradle

You won’t believe this…I woke up only at 930 am today (yes, Hammy3, LB, EA…I know this is UNBELIEVEABLE!) (For those of you who don’t know me, my regular wake up time is at about 530am…don’t ask why, ok). And yeah, I admit it, I am very hyper, I can’t sit still even for a second, I am constantly working, thinking, exercising, training my runs, RPM classes every evening, sleeps only 4-5 hours …..just like a hyper hamster running on the wheel non-stop….hence Hammified !!

And today it just hit the wall for me, was physically and mentally tired, exhausted *I can so hear Hammy 3 saying “No shit Sherlock!*…Here I am wondering what the fark was wrong with me lah…slept in so late, missed my PT session…and I still feel like sleeping…aaaargghhhhhh!!!!!

As I mooched around the house with my cuppa coffee, searching for my daily reading from the Big Guy above *ahem! As liberal as I may be, nothing can ever beat my belief and faith in Him*….THIS message came from Him:

“…that sleep and rest are all part of the divine order. Don't make your waking life and responsibilities so important that you neglect the very real benefits of sleep, rest, and dreaming. The night is your time of restoration. It is essential. God made both day and night for a reason.”

Speak about divine intervention, no matter how much I tried, I could not drag myself out of bed this morning. Guess it was HIS way of throwing a brick at me, knocking me out, allowing me to grab that couple more hours of zzzzz time…all I can say is Thank You Lord!...and I mean that from the bottom of my heart!

Show me the Light!

What are the chances of anyone or anything being struck by lightning?? But…”Seven cows hit by lightning”??...yah…apparently that happened at Sepang yesterday.

We’ve all heard stories of how people get struck by lightning when they were under a tree during lightning and thunder days...*and you wonder why people do things like that?* BUT, then again, I should not question this as this PB was equally guilty of such stupidity or may I say PSCYHO-NESS!!!!

Nope, I did not stand under a tree! Mine was better….I was in the water!HAHAHAHAHA!

This happened couple of weeks back, when I was dying to get into the pool to get my own thinking time. As I was driving to the club, so were the dark stormy clouds *OH NO!!!Cursersssssss…PLS DON’T RAIN ON MY PARADE!*. Anyway, being the psycho that I am, arrived at the club, changed and jumped straight into the pool despite feeling raindrops (keep falling on my head) and dark stormy clouds holding their grounds (PB is thinking – well, let’s see who wins this game..hhrrmph!)

Obviously, like my mom always say DO NOT CHALLENGE GOD! cos after only 10 laps, it started to storm real bad and rained heavily. You would think this PB would get out of the water IMMEDIATELY?…hehehe..NAH!...I decided to carry on for another lap, only to reach to the end and see a pair of feet greeting me as I emerge from my last stroke. The Lifeguard! (Damn! Not The Bodyguard??) staring straight down at me, waving his finger and throwing his hands in the air…”Miss, you MUST come out now. Thunder! Lightning!”

Hmmm….with much dissatisfaction and reluctance, that was the end of my swim for that day. But after reading about the cows, I should count my Blessings, huh….

Burn Baby Burn!

Have you ever wondered how many calories we burn just by doing simple things or chores (and I don’t mean Gym or GX classes!). Well, I decided to do a bit of experiment just now – so I put on my good old Polar Heart Rate Monitor and started with the following chores:

  1. Hand-washed my cycling pants *not breathless lol* – Duration 2 mins – Calories burned app 15 cals.
  2. Then proceeded to cut a medium sized papaya, which includes washing, skinning and slicing it to about 6 slices – Duration 20 mins *yes, I know taking 20 mins to do this is shameful…cos PB ain’t very good when it comes to kitchen work lah* - Calories burned was another 65 cals!….*hey it was hard work ok, and I was actually sweating, especially when the papaya skin was tough!*
  3. Thereafter, sat down to start up my laptop – Duration 20 secs – Calories burned ..hmmm…did not get any reading…hehehe!
  4. Sat down for good one hour plus, working on a strategy paper which included typing feverishly on laptop, flipping through research papers, grabbing one stack of document after another, browsing back and forth websites & screaming at certain people over the phone – Duration 1 hour *duh…I had mentioned it already!* - Calories burned app 103 cals….*well, it was a very INTENSE paper to write! And lots of brain cells activated!*

Took a break to write this blog…hmm total calories burned app 183 cals….all in less than 2 hours….not bad! And only a little wee bit of sweat….during papaya cutting time and writing strategy paper….hahahaha!!!

So, my point is this - when you don’t feel like going to the gym (AHEM! AHEM! EA….please take note); you can always have the options of washing your cycling pants, cut papaya, activate those brain cells and scream at some people while working…and still burn SOME calories! HAHAHAHAAAAA!

It is now 1.00 am….am counting *1 sheep, 2 sheeps, 3 sheeps, 4 sheeps, 5 sheeps……got to almost 100 sheeps*…hmmm, still not working lol!

Ok, tried staring at my sister’s fish in her aquarium…also not working!

Tried reading “The 7 Habits of…whatever you call it la”…still not working!

Popped in a DVD about some stupid war movie…I ended up being more critical about the show….am still awake!

Started working on my document….not a good idea at all!!!! I am now even more awake than ever!

Oh fark it…I am just not gonna stress over not being able to sleep….maybe I should just relax….take deep breaths….and perhaps shutting down the laptop now will be a smart move, or perhaps a bloke like Joe Manganiello can put me to sleep, or maybe not! Anyway, this PB is gonna try to get a wink or two. So, good nite ...or should I say good morning!

“The Expendables”….picked up this DVD and thought I’d just laze the night away watching a bunch of 80’s has-been-action-heroes trying to play all young and hunky dory. I mean, really, we are talking about Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, Arnie and Bruce Willis ALL rolled into this action-packed movie.

And as I pop the DVD in, I was thinking …damn, I am gonna be watching…..

*bunch of old men trying to play young-super-action-heroes who thinks they still have it*

*bunch of old men having some fun with their guns and knives in their backyard*

*bunch of old men who tries to show that they probably still have the bods*

*bunch of old men who’s trying to re-live their yester-years*

But, anyway, what the hell, I might as well watch it since I refused to do anything that requires the usage of ANY of my brain cells.

However, I was actually quite surprised with the movie (to be honest, I thought I was gonna shut it at the start of the movie!). These guys were actually not too bad, given their age:

*Sylvester actually looks damn good for a 60+ year old man

*Jet Li was actually still as agile and small (in physical size…not what you think it is…doink!)

*Jason still has that bad-boy look and feel

*And I still can’t understand a word from Dolph Lundgren

Altho Arnie and Bruce didn’t have a part with the action bits, I must say it was kinda nice to see the ensemble of all these action-heroes whom I kinda grew up with.

And the best part of the movie was…..it proved just one thing - a woman can certainly rule a man’s life…no matter how much testosterone rules his body. The movie took a twist when the guys, instead of going after the bad General, the boys did the whole brotherhood thingy and helped Sly saved the daughter of the bad General.

Hmmm….men…they do go weak in the presence of beauty after all!
